When my father first became a parish pastor, people would make appointments to come into the church office or for the pastor to come to their home to discuss their questions or concerns. When I became a pastor a few decades later, people would leave messages on the church or parsonage answering machines and I would call the person back to talk about their questions or concerns. Ten years later, they were calling my cell phone. That gave way to emailing and now to text messages.
Today we live in an age where a great deal of information can be made readily accessible to the whole world by posting it to the internet. This website is meant to be a place for me to deposit information so that I can refer people to it easily and quickly by sending them a link. Folks can also peruse my pages to see what I’ve made available.
Finally, my website is a place for me to deposit my thoughts after several decades of ministry. Maybe some will find it helpful. Maybe not. But for whatever it may or may not be worth to others, I like having a place of my own to put my own thoughts “out there” for the world. The site is set to continue for up to ten years after my death and then disappear with my memory. But that’s okay: it is all the gift of the Holy Spirit who provides for every generation through the Office of the Ministry. I only hope that I have been, to some degree, a faithful servant.
